SEP Talks x International Geneva: MEDAIR Anne Reitsema
Posted on May 31 2025
Anne Reitsema is a leading voice and practitioner within the global humanitarian sector and was appointed CEO of Medair in April 2023. Over the last twenty years she has directly led humanitarian responses in Darfur, Somalia, Angola, Sudan, Northern Uganda and South Sudan. Previously as International Programmes Director, Anne oversaw all of Medair's country programmes in the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, and Africa.
She served for 2 years as one of the United Nations Global Emergency Directors, and is now a principle in the Inter-Agency Standing Committee which is the longest standing and highest level humanitarian coordination forum of the United Nations System. In 2024 she was nominated to the board of ICVA by its membership. ICVA is the largest global network of non-governmental organisations.
The sudden shift in humanitarian funding is posing a significant risk to global humanitarian efforts. Medair has also been affected by these changes. Despite this, their primary focus remains on the communities they support. They are committed to ensuring that essential lifesaving services continue both now and in the future.
